The Uttar Pradesh government has partnered with NDDB Dairy Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
The Organization will offer technical assistance for managing three women-owned milk producer companies — Saamarthya Milk Producer Company (Raebareli), Srijanee Milk Producer Company (Bareilly), and Shri Baba Gorakhnath Kripaa Milk Producer Company (Gorakhpur) set up in the State.
Speaking about the programme, UPSRLM Director C Indumathy said that by utilizing NDS's experience, the focus is not just on encouraging women's entrepreneurship in rural UP but, also, on bringing about a fundamental change in the lives of these women and their families.
She stated that MSY is a path-breaking project of the UP government and is moving along nicely.
From over 2,800 villages of 17 Milk Producer Company of Jhansi and Kashee Milk Producer Company of Varanasi, these FPOs will jointly procure milk.
Meenesh Shah, Chairman of NDDB and NDS stated that Uttar Pradesh is the second largest milk producing state in the country. However, it still has a large untapped potential. This initiative will not only provide market access and livelihood to them but will also unleash the entrepreneurship capability of the women belonging to the focused 17 districts which are predominantly rural, he added.
In order to promote producer companies and productivity enhancement services, NDDB Dairy Services serves as the delivery arm of the NDDB. These services include the provision of high genetic merit semen doses, artificial insemination delivery services, embryo transfer, animal nutrition services, and induction of high genetic merit live animals under the brand "SAG Live."
