Dream of studying in a UK University might come true some lucky and talented women in India as University of Manchester has announced Five British Council scholarships in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) for master's degree female students from India and other South Asian Nations. This is undoubtedly one of the best scholarship to study abroad.

Fully Funded Scholarship to Study STEM Subject in UK

The fully-funded scholarships aim to enhance chances for women and girls studying STEM fields. They will cover full tuition fees as well as most of the costs involved with studying abroad, such as flights, visas, and a monthly stipend, with allowances made for accompanying children.

The university featured it as part of the Gender Advancement through Transforming Institutions, or GATI, program, which promotes women in STEM in India and is a collaboration between the British Council and India's Department of Science and Technology (DST).

"With the new scholarship, we hope to further address the gender imbalance seen in STEM subjects while also providing a passport to a successful career and a lifetime of achievement," said Dr David Polya, Associate Dean for Internationalisation at the University of Manchester's Faculty of Science and Engineering and Professor of Environmental Geochemistry”.

Requirements for Availing the Scholarship:

Applicants for the new scholarships must show that they are financially needy and engaged in their field of study, either through work experience or a demonstrated interest in the subject area they are enrolling for. They must also show that they have plans to contribute to capacity-building and socioeconomic growth in the future, as well as a plan and motivate more women and girls in STEM.

"We are thrilled to provide this fourth set of scholarships for women in STEM, based on the enormously good experience and feedback from previous scholarships," said Barbara Wickham, Country Director British Council India. "We intend to enable women from all over India to study in the UK, which is home to some of the world's top-ranked universities and offers high-quality STEM programmes.

She stated, "The British Council is devoted to girls' education and resolving gender imbalance in science, technology, and innovation, particularly in academia." According to the British Council, approximately 180 Indian women have been able to pursue a master's degree in STEM topics in the UK since 2018.

Enrolment of female students in computer and communications technology (3%), natural science, mathematics, and statistics (5%), and engineering, manufacturing, and construction (7%) is relatively low globally (8 per cent). Students who have been offered a place at Manchester University are encouraged to apply before the April 10 deadline.
