Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Discusses 100-Day Action Plan for Rural Development

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted robust implementation of rural development schemes during a meeting on the ministry's 100-day action plan, highlighting the need for enhanced support for vulnerable populations and strengthened local oversight committees.

Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, called a significant meeting on June 14, 2024, to discuss the action plan for the next 100 days across various ministry schemes. To realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India, Chouhan emphasized the need for strong and efficient implementation and called for teamwork in support of rural development programs.

A key focus of the discussion was the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). Chouhan highlighted the importance of enhancing the quality of life for the elderly, widows, and disabled individuals. He stressed the need for a serious approach to every challenge within this project and indicated a willingness to amend existing rules and regulations if necessary to achieve these goals.

Chouhan also addressed the importance of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committees (DISHA). He called for the further strengthening of these committees, underscoring their role in addressing local issues and monitoring progress. The minister announced plans to write to all newly elected MPs, encouraging them to ensure that DISHA Committee meetings are conducted promptly to maintain continuous oversight and attention to local problems and developments.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Rural Development Dr. Chandra Shekhar Pemmasani, Kamlesh Paswan, Rural Development Secretary Shailesh Kumar Singh, and other senior ministry officials.
