Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, inaugurated Departmental Summit on National Ayush Mission and Capacity Building in States on September 3, 2025, at All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Sarita Vihar, New Delhi. Addressing the gathering, Jadhav said the government is working on comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to strengthen health infrastructure and ensure quality healthcare delivery across the country.
Highlighting the achievements of the National Ayush Mission since its launch in 2014, he noted that the initiative has made Ayush services more affordable and inclusive. A key milestone, he said, was the establishment of 12,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, marking a shift from OPD-based services to a holistic model of preventive and promotive healthcare.
The Minister also underlined the launch of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) for Ayush facilities in March 2024, developed in consultation with NITI Aayog and DGHS, to ensure uniformity in infrastructure, human resources, medicines, quality assurance, and clinical research. In a major announcement, he declared that Ayurveda Day will now be celebrated every year on September 23, with this year marking its 10th anniversary under the theme “Ayurveda for People and Planet.” He urged States and UTs to actively promote the event as a global health initiative.
To further strengthen institutional capacity, Jadhav announced the operationalization of a Project Management Unit at AIIA to support Ayush-related insurance initiatives, enhancing accessibility to traditional healthcare. He also inaugurated the Ayurvidya Advanced Centre, a digital platform for Ayurveda education offering expert-led courses, live webinars, and interactive sessions.
Speaking at the summit, Dr. V. K. Paul emphasized the vital role of Ayush in achieving Viksit Bharat @2047, noting that a healthy and productive population is key to national development. He stressed the need to raise life expectancy from 71 years to 85 years, while expanding Ayush education, wellness tourism, and private sector participation.
Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha highlighted the importance of taking the Har Ghar Ayuryog initiative, a blend of Ayush and Yoga, to every household to promote better public health.
The two-day summit will focus on grassroots-level inputs and state-specific strategies to expand the National Ayush Mission and mainstream holistic healthcare across India. The event was attended by Dr. V. K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and senior officials from various States and Union Territories.
