Union Minister of Agriculture Will Inaugurate the 12th Biennial Krishi Vigyan Kendra Conference

Trilochan Mohapatra, Director-General of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agriculture Extension), and UHF Vice-Chancellor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel made the announcement during a press conference on Friday.

The 12th Biennial Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Conference, which will be held on June 1-2 at the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF) in Nauni, Himachal Pradesh, will attract over 1,000 attendees. 

The meeting will be opened by the Union Minister of Agriculture Narendra Tomar. The celebration will be presided over by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, with State Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur as the special guest.

Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture, will be the special guest of honour.

State Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Union Minister for Fisheries Parshottam Rupala will speak during the conference's closing session. Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture, will also attend the conference on June 2.

The meeting will bring together around 1,000 scientists and officials from throughout the country, according to organisers. From Delhi, Mohapatra and Singh virtually addressed the press conference.

The topic of this year's biennial event, according to Mohapatra, is "Sustainable Agricultural Production System."

The conference will also include discussions on subjects such as natural farming for sustainable production, precision agriculture, diversification and intensification, Krishi drones, and ICT use in agriculture.

He said that an emphasis would be placed on how to recruit young people to careers in agriculture, as well as discussions on the essential pillars of sustainable agriculture.

The conference's major focus will be natural farming. This approach will not only aid in the production of nutritious foods, but it will also assist to save the environment and enhance farm revenue.

Farmers from all across the country who practise natural farming have been asked to speak at the conference and share their experiences with the attendees.

According to Chandel, the Himachal Pradesh government's 'Prakritik Krishi Khushaal Kisan Yojana' has gotten a huge response from farmers, as evidenced by the fact that over 1.70 lakh farmers have joined the movement and are actively involved in farming and playing a role in soil and water conservation, environmental protection, and human health by producing healthy food items.

Natural farming research experiments are also being conducted by the state's agri-horti universities. Chandel commended ICAR for allowing the institution to conduct such a large event to highlight the country the work that has been done in natural farming.
