Union Minister Arjun Munda Inaugurates New Research and Administrative Building at ICAR-NCIPM

The National Integrated Nematode Management Research Centre of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR-NCIPM) inaugurated its newly constructed Research and Administrative Building in New Delhi on February 28, 2024. The event witnessed the presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs & Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Arjun Munda, who officiated the ceremony.

At the inauguration, the Minister highlighted the crucial role of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in tackling crop pests and diseases. Emphasizing the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, he shared his vision of a future where crops are more resilient to diseases, thereby reducing dependency on chemical pesticides. The minister also talked about preserving soil quality as paramount for ensuring sustainable food production.

As the Chief Guest, Union Minister Arjun Munda underscored the government's commitment to strengthening India's agricultural landscape under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With an ambitious target of achieving complete self-reliance in food production by 2047, Minister Munda emphasized the importance of standing alongside farmers in this journey towards a new India. Reflecting on the transformative impact of the Green Revolution, he acknowledged the need to address contemporary challenges, particularly concerning soil health and water conservation.

Prime Minister Modi's holistic vision for agricultural revival resonated throughout the ceremony, focusing not only food self-sufficiency but also the promotion of organic farming, nutrition enhancement, and soil conservation. Minister Munda's address underscored the intrinsic connection between land and human sustenance.

In alignment with the government's focus on farmer welfare and empowerment, Minister Munda highlighted initiatives such as the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme and efforts to strengthen farmer cooperatives and self-help groups. The passing of the National Horticulture Board Bill, aimed at ensuring gender parity in agriculture, further exemplified the government's commitment to inclusivity and equality.

The event also witnessed the participation of dignitaries such as Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Kailash Choudhary, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, and distinguished representatives from ICAR and other agricultural institutions. Dr Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director-General (Crop Science), ICAR, delivered the warm welcome address, setting the tone for an eventful and inspiring ceremony.
