Haoliang Xu, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Acting Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will visit India from November 10 to 12 to reinforce the organization’s long-standing partnership with the country and explore new areas of cooperation.
During his visit, Xu is scheduled to meet senior government officials, private sector leaders, philanthropic organizations, and civil society representatives to discuss initiatives aimed at advancing inclusive growth, digital transformation, and climate action.
A key highlight of the visit will be a special reception hosted by UNDP India to mark 60 years of India–UNDP collaboration. Xu will also participate in high-level dialogues on digital health innovation and South-South cooperation, showcasing India’s leadership in developing scalable digital platforms such as eVIN, CoWIN, and U-WIN. These systems have become global models for efficient, technology-driven public health and development solutions.
The visit underscores UNDP’s continued commitment to supporting India’s national development priorities through innovation, partnerships, and knowledge exchange.
Globally, UNDP operates in over 170 countries and territories, working to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, and promote sustainable development. In India, the agency collaborates closely with the Government of India to localize and accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while promoting inclusive growth, climate resilience, renewable energy, and health system strengthening across all states and union territories.
