New Delhi is set to host the International Conference on Unani Medicine as part of Unani Day celebrations on February 11-12, 2025. President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will inaugurate the two-day event at Vigyan Bhawan. The conference, organized by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) under the Ministry of Ayush, will highlight innovations in Unani medicine for integrative healthcare solutions.
Unani Day, celebrated annually on February 11, marks the birth anniversary of renowned Unani physician and freedom fighter Hakim Ajmal Khan. This year’s conference on "Innovations in Unani Medicine for Integrative Health Solutions – A Way Forward", aims to foster global collaboration and innovation in Unani medicine while integrating traditional healing systems into modern healthcare.
Speaking about the event, Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav emphasized the growing recognition of Unani medicine within global healthcare, stating that innovation and collaboration are essential in bringing forward holistic health solutions. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing Unani medicine, ensuring its meaningful contribution to public health worldwide.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, highlighted the government’s focus on scientific research and integration of traditional medicine into mainstream health policies. He noted that the establishment of research centers and the inclusion of Ayush in broader healthcare initiatives reflect India’s dedication to preserving and promoting its rich medical heritage. The conference aims to spotlight the latest advancements in Unani medicine and its role in holistic health.
Key highlights of the event include scientific sessions, expert-led discussions, and exhibitions displaying innovations in Unani pharmaceuticals. The conference will host delegates from countries such as the USA, South Africa, Iran, Malaysia, UAE, and Bangladesh, fostering international collaboration.
Notable highlights include the release of CCRUM publications, NABL and NABH certificate awards, a short video on CCRUM’s initiatives, and recognition of outstanding research contributions. The conference promises to be a significant step in reinforcing the role of Unani medicine in global health.
The event will also witness the presence of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, along with Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.
