University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched the 'Shodh Chakra' initiative, which aims to assist research scholars and supervisors with their work. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre.
The initiative aims to provide a facility for researchers to collect, organize, store, and cite research work as needed. On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the Shodh Chakra initiative was virtually launched. Among those present at the inaugural virtual event were UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar.
The initiative's features include providing resources for research scholars, interacting with guides and scholars, tracking work progress, administrative monitoring activities, and statistics on ongoing research areas in India. According to UGC, the system would also provide profile management, research tools, and other facilities.
"The Shodh Chakra initiative will assist researchers in creating profiles and managing their preferences," according to the commission. It goes on to say that the researcher will be able to use the Shodh Chakra facilities by logging in via the official website.
The commission has asked universities to make facilities available to researchers and supervisors so that they can make the most of the platform.
