The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) have joined forces to provide women with the opportunity to receive professional training to launch their entrepreneurial careers, as well as an opportunity for current women entrepreneurs.
The Centre of Excellence for Social Innovation (CESI) of IIMK, in collaboration with NCW and MyGov.in, will create and implement a collaborative online training programme to foster and grow entrepreneurial capability among women entrepreneurs. The programme will be offered bilingually in English and Malayalam to boost awareness and accessibility, according to a press release issued in Kozhikode on May 10.
Aspiring women entrepreneurs may now select between two specific programmes, the Foundation Programme in Entrepreneurship and the Advanced Programme in Entrepreneurship, which are tailored to their present employment and skill sets. Lectures, seminars, entrepreneurial speeches, and major mentorship from diverse subject matter experts are included in the four-month, short-term programmes, which comprise sixty hours of online and interactive learning.
"Innovation and entrepreneurship are the buzz words around which the history of the twenty-first century will be scripted," said Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIMK, while announcing the unique partnership. Entrepreneurship has long been a male-dominated activity, with much fewer women opting for it as a means of empowerment. IIMK is a leader in gender diversity, and we are certain that collaborations like this will shift the current quo and release the latent potential of female entrepreneurs. It is now time to support women who want to start businesses and acquire the skills and views that will enable them to create and operate sustainable firms that will improve the world."
"Women have a critical role to play in India's economic roadmap," stated NWC member-secretary Meeta Rajivlochan. We hope to promote access to information, encourage women entrepreneurs, and pave the road for a happy, balanced, and successful India through their work with the IIMK and NCW."
"The entrepreneurial programme for women reinforces IIMK's commitment to women development and social responsibility," stated Prof Priya Nair Rajeev, Head of CESI. IIMK has made the greatest management education available to women who need it to enhance their lives and lead their families and communities into the future by providing a bilingual programme."
