On Sunday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin assured while addressing a meeting in the state that his administration would work to address the issues raised by farmers, traders, and fishers about improving industrial development, agriculture, and the construction of proposed fishing harbours.
Stalin was speaking at the gathering conducted under the 'Kala Aaivil Muthalamichar' (chief minister on-field review) programme, a review of Madurai. The traders, farmers, and fishermen voiced their worries and presented petitions with their requests during the meeting.
Stalin announced that since assuming control of the state administration, he has been gathering requests from citizens even while on his way to the office. And along those lines, the chief minister's field assessment was created. He admired their candour in expressing their worries.
He assured them that the government wouldn't let them down and that they could return home with the same optimism.
For the region's prosperity, farmers encouraged the chief minister to pursue the interlinking of the Cauvery, Vaigai, and Gundaru rivers. Farmers in Ramanathapuram requested that 1,500 union tanks be desilted in order to hold more rainwater for irrigation. While Dindigul farmers called for a horticulture college to be established in Oddanchatram, Theni farmers requested subsidies for building grape pandals.
Ramanathapuram district fishermen pushed Stalin to construct a fishing harbour on Thangachimadam's northern shore.
The other requirements included a fishing pier in Rameswaram and breakwaters at Kunthukal fishing harbour to make it an all-weather port.
The fishers also requested a rise in the amount of subsidised diesel supplied to their boats. They also thanked the chief minister for the numerous assistance programmes the state government had put in place.
In an effort to boost regional industrial development, the trade associations put forth a number of plans, which the state government is already implementing. The farmers have also expressed their worries and suggestions. A dedicated budget for agriculture is one of the many things the state government is doing to increase farmers' revenue.
Farmers who grow horticulture in Theni and fishermen from Ramanathapuram would have their concerns meticulously taken into account.
