Guest Panelists shed light on the pressing matters of ‘World Hunger’ and how the Agri-community can be instrumental in bettering the supply value chain. Rajiv Yadav, Senior Vice President, Origo Commodities India Pvt Ltd, conveyed: “A lot of stomachs sleep hungry in India, if we are able to take the corrective actions around all this food grain management and the feed grain management, I'm sure we'll be approaching towards a developed nation from a developing nation sometime soon”
Ramesh Doraiswami, MD & CEO, NBHC (Post Harvest Agri Value Chain – Emerging Trends) expounded that “Supply will drive the food value chain over the next several decades because of three or four factors; first is very strong demand. On the reports of the UN, WB, hungry mouths in the world have doubled in the last five years which shows that access to food is becoming more and more difficult for a very big proportion of the people around the world. Post COVID all of us know the only reason India survived: we had adequate food in our silos and warehouses, actually managed through the crisis whereas evolved economies like US faced severe food shortages in parts of their ecosystem. We found no substitute for food and energy that itself is going to be the reason for the spike in demand.”
Mr. Kailash Singh, Managing Director of Tefla inaugurated the keynote session, in the presence of chief guest Jitender Juyal, Joint Director of Dept. of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India along with addresses from dignitaries present during which the South Asia Agri Summit, Kathmandu was launched.
