A group of thirty-six tribal farmers from Telangana are currently undergoing a specialized training program in natural farming methods. The training is being conducted by Aadarana Padi Panta Vyavasaya Kshetram, a renowned facility that focuses on natural farming and millet processing, located in Hampapuram. The three-day program, which aims to equip the farmers with essential skills and knowledge, is set to conclude on Sunday.
The participating farmers hail from Mannanur in the Nagarkurnool district and Utnoor in the Adilabad district of Telangana. According to Mohan Reddy, Regional Manager of Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank, the farmers have been actively engaged in hands-on learning experiences related to the cultivation of millet crops and other profitable natural farming methods.
Recognized by the central government, Aadarana is a non-governmental organization that extends support to numerous farmers in millet production. In this instance, the organization was approached by the Telangana Government and the National Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Organization (NIRDPR) to provide training to the tribal farmers.
Vishala Ferrer, the Women Empowerment Director of the Rural Development Trust, emphasized the comprehensive approach adopted by Aadarana to improve the skills and income of native farmers through natural farming practices. By harnessing their cattle and land resources effectively, the farmers are empowered to enhance their agricultural productivity and financial stability.
Md. Khan, the representative of NIRDPR, expressed satisfaction with the practical and useful nature of the training program. The program was designed to ensure its applicability in the field, enabling the farmers to implement the acquired knowledge effectively.
Accompanying the trainees and overseeing the training program is Sandhya, Deputy Director of the Telangana Tribal Welfare Department. Sandhya ensures that the farmers receive the necessary guidance and support throughout the training period. Another training program is scheduled to take place from June 11 to 13, further indicating the government's commitment to promoting natural farming practices.
The Telangana Tribal Welfare Department, through its Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), is actively encouraging natural farming initiatives. The thirty-six trainee farmers are designated as lead farmers and will subsequently impart their newfound knowledge and skills to their fellow farmers, contributing to the wider adoption of natural farming practices in the region.
With ongoing efforts to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices, Telangana is taking significant strides toward a more prosperous and resilient agricultural sector. The training programs conducted by Aadarana and supported by the government are instrumental in empowering farmers and fostering the growth of natural farming in the state.
