
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ on September 17, 2025, alongside the 8th Poshan Maah. The nationwide campaign is being described as one of the biggest healthcare and nutrition outreach initiatives for women, adolescent girls and children, with over one lakh health camps planned across the country.
The initiative, led jointly by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Women and Child Development, is aimed at strengthening preventive, promotive and curative healthcare services at the community level. It will focus on screening and early detection of non-communicable diseases, anaemia, tuberculosis and sickle cell disease, while also promoting maternal health, child immunisation, menstrual hygiene, nutrition and mental well-being. Health Minister J.P. Nadda said in a post on X that the effort is meant to ensure better access and quality care for women and children, calling on private hospitals and healthcare providers to join the Jan Bhagidari initiative. The campaign will run till October 2 and see the involvement of ASHA and Anganwadi workers, SHGs, PRIs, urban local bodies and youth groups, making it one of the largest participatory movements in public health.
Health services will be rolled out through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, community health centres, district hospitals and other facilities. Specialist services in gynaecology, paediatrics, eye care, ENT, dentistry, dermatology and psychiatry will be mobilised with support from medical colleges, central institutions such as AIIMS, ESIC hospitals, CGHS centres and several private hospitals.
The fortnight-long initiative will also include screenings for hypertension, diabetes, obesity and cancers, large-scale anaemia testing and distribution of IFA supplements, TB diagnosis and treatment support, and special focus on sickle cell disease in tribal areas. Nutrition counselling, recipe demonstrations, Annaprashan ceremonies and Eat Right activities will be organised alongside campaigns on menstrual hygiene and lifestyle changes.
Blood donation camps linked with the e-Raktkosh portal, enrolments under PM-JAY and ABHA, and AYUSH-based wellness sessions including yoga and Ayurveda will add to the campaign’s outreach.
Ministries of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Education, Youth Affairs & Sports, Tribal Affairs, Railways, Defence and others will also contribute by organising health camps and awareness activities in their institutions. The initiative is expected to make a significant contribution towards the vision of a healthier and developed India by 2047.
