Student Credit Card Scheme: Check Eligibility, Important Documents and Method to Apply

To make youth of West Bengal self-reliant, Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee launched ‘Student Credit Card Scheme’ on 30 June 2021. This scheme can be availed by anyone who has spent 10 years in the state, West Bengal.

To make youth of West Bengal self-reliant, Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee launched ‘Student Credit Card Scheme’ on 30 June 2021. This scheme can be availed by anyone who has spent 10 years in the state, West Bengal.

In the election manifesto for the year 2021 Assembly polls, the Trinamool Congress had promised a “Student Credit Card scheme with a limit of Rs. 10 lakhs at 4% interest”.

Features of Student Credit Card Scheme & Eligibility

  • A student can avail a soft loan up to Rs. 10 lakhs to pursue their higher studies at 4% interest.

  • Any person till the age of 40 years is eligible for the student credit card scheme.

  • A student will get 15 years to repay the loan after getting job.

  • The loan can be extended to the students who are studying in various coaching institutes to appear in national-level competitive exams, including IIMs, IITs, IAS, WBPS, NLUs, IPS among others.

  • A student can take admission to abroad under the student credit card scheme to pursue courses of their choice up to post-doctoral level or Ph.D.

  • The student credit card scheme covers education from Madhyamik level to professional courses including doctorate & post-doctorate research work in any recognized educational institute pan India or abroad.

  • The Student Credit Card Scheme will be covering various institutional and non-institutional expenses to ensure that not even a single student of West Bengal is deprived of education due to a lack of monetary support.

  • Aadhar Card

  • Age Proof

  • Mobile Number

  • Income Certificate

  • Residence Certificate

  • Bank Account Details

  • Passport Size Photograph
