The Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare (DA&FW) organized its first-ever stakeholder consultation on September 06, 2024, at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, ahead of the release of the first advance estimates for the Kharif 2024 season. Scheduled for October 2024, these estimates are a crucial part of the agricultural planning process.

The meeting was chaired by Subha Thakur, Additional Secretary of DA&FW.
The primary goal of the consultation was to collect vital insights and preliminary assessments from industry experts on the production outlook for pulses in the Kharif season 2024. This feedback will play an essential role in shaping the first advance estimates.
Stakeholders provided their expertise on various issues, including the assessment of crop conditions and methodologies for estimation. Early ground-level reports from the meeting indicate a promising production outlook for Tur and Moong this season.
