Monsoon Latest Update: During the next few days, conditions are favorable for the monsoon to progress farther into some parts of Vidarbha and Telangana, some additional parts of Andhra Pradesh, and the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal.
The monsoon will enter some areas of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, the entire Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and some additional parts of Bihar in the next two to three days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The Southwest Monsoon has advanced into further areas of Marathwada, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Tamil Nadu, to name a few. The monsoon made its way into coastal Andhra Pradesh, as well as the northwest and the west-central Bay of Bengal.
Rainfall Predictions
Meanwhile, the present spell of heavy rain is expected to last for another five days in Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. On June 16, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Assam and Meghalaya, and on June 17, in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
In its weather bulletin, the IMD stated, "During the following 5 days, rainfall activity is expected to gradually increase over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal, with moderately widespread to widespread rainfall and thunderstorms/lightning/gusty winds. Isolated severe rainfall is expected over Jharkhand from the 16th to the 19th of June; Gangetic West Bengal from the 16th to the 17th of June; and Bihar from the 15th to the 19th of June."
Meanwhile, in Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim, the present rainy spell is expected to linger for another five days. On June 16, Assam and Meghalaya may have isolated exceptionally heavy rain, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will see rain on June 17.
According to the IMD's weather bulletin: "Rainfall activity will gradually increase over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal over the next 5 days, with moderately widespread to widespread rainfall and thunderstorms/lightning/gusty winds forecast.
From the 16th to the 19th of June, isolated severe rain is forecast in Jharkhand; from the 16th to the 17th of June, in Gangetic West Bengal; and from the 16th to the 19th of June, in Bihar."
