Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to purchase indigenous products, urging citizens to support the “Made in India” movement with a sense of national pride and responsibility.

His remarks came a day after Prime Minister Modi addressed farmers in Varanasi during the release of the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, where he emphasized the importance of prioritizing Indian-made goods to boost the national economy and empower local producers.

“We must live for our country. Living for the nation is what the Hon’ble Prime Minister taught us yesterday,” Chouhan said. “He appealed to us to buy only those products for our homes that are made in our own country.”

Speaking to the public, Minister Chouhan said, “Dear sisters and brothers, whether a product is made in your village, nearby city, district, state, or anywhere in our country, buy only those things. Every purchase of an Indian product supports our farmers, artisans, self-help groups, and small-scale industries.”

Highlighting India’s economic potential, Chouhan said, “Today, India is the fourth-largest economy in the world, and we are rapidly moving towards the third position. With a population of 1.44 billion, our country is a huge market. If we resolve to buy and use only products made in our country, our farmers, small-scale producers, self-help groups, and artisans will see their incomes rise, and a stronger economy will follow.”

He further stated, “Why should our money go abroad? Let it provide livelihoods to our own children. I will live for my country, and you too should live for the country… which means, buy only products that are Made in India.”

Chouhan’s remarks align with the government’s larger vision of self-reliance and economic nationalism under the “Vocal for Local” campaign.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier emphasized that India’s journey to becoming a global economic powerhouse depends on every citizen’s commitment to using Swadeshi products, especially amid evolving global challenges.
