To accelerate the growth of the agricultural sector across India, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has initiated state-wise consultations. As part of this initiative, the Union Minister convened a high-level meeting with Chhattisgarh's Agriculture Minister, Ramvichar Netam, at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi on July 01, 2024.
The discussions aimed to improve various agricultural practices in Chhattisgarh, including the promotion of pulses, oilseeds, and horticulture. The Union Minister emphasized the central government's commitment to the welfare of farmers under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, promising comprehensive support to Chhattisgarh's agricultural sector.
Key topics addressed during the meeting included the implementation and progress of several central schemes and programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, and initiatives promoting pulses, oilseeds, and horticulture. The innovative Namo Drone Didi and the Oil Palm Mission were also discussed.
Chouhan assured that the farmers of Chhattisgarh would receive unwavering support from both the central and state governments. He highlighted the central government's policy focus on enhancing the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds and pointed out the potential for expanding maize and soybean production in the state.
To ensure a successful Kharif season, the Union Minister directed concerned officials to ensure the adequate availability of essential inputs such as fertilizers and seeds. He reiterated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare would extend full support to Chhattisgarh's agricultural development efforts.
The meeting was attended by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Secretary Sanjeev Chopra, along with senior officials from the Central and State Agriculture and Horticulture departments.
