The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Maha' (M'maha) over west-central & adjoining east-central the Arabian Sea moved eastwards with a speed of 07 kmph during the past 06 hours which will result in heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Gujarat region & Saurashtra coasts on 6th & 7th. Isolated heavy falls are also likely over Jammu & Kashmir on 6th & 7th and in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh on 7th, the weather department of India said in its morning bulletin released today.
Meanwhile, the air quality index AQI) in the national capital saw a dip on Tuesday, recording 382 on the AQI while Delhi’s air pollution had hit emergency levels last week. Although it has observed a gradual improvement, still falls under the “very poor” category, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
“The Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Maha' moved eastwards with a speed of 07 kmph during past 06 hours and layover east central & adjoining west-central Arabian Sea near Latitude 19.8°N and Longitude 64.1°E, about 610 km west-southwest of Porbandar (Gujarat), 660 km west-southwest of Veraval (Gujarat) and 710 km west-southwest of Diu. It is very expected to move east-northeastwards with rapid weakening. It is very likely to cross Gujarat coast around Diu as a Cyclonic Storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph around morning hours of 7th November 2019”,
It causes depression over east-central & adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal and the north Andaman Sea moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 11 kmph and lay centered at 1730 hours IST of today. It may intensify into a Deep Depression during the next 12 hours and into a Cyclonic Storm during the subsequent 24 hours. It is also likely to move west-northwestwards initially and then north-northwestwards, towards West Bengal & adjoining north Odisha and Bangladesh coasts.
As per yesterday’s report, maximum temperatures were reported appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh while minimum temperatures markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at the most place over Gujarat State and Madhya Pradesh.
