SBI to Extend Digital Platform ‘YONO’ to Farmers, Businessmen from April

After the success of its integrated digital platform ‘YONO’ among youngsters, India’s largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI) is now planning to expand its reach.

After the success of its integrated digital platform ‘YONO’ among youngsters, India’s largest lender, State Bank of India (SBI) is now planning to expand its reach.

YONO which means ‘You Only Need One’ is an inclusive platform that offers lifestyle and banking services to its customers. Currently it experiences around 3 lakh logins on daily basis.

SBI Chairman, Rajnish Kumar said, “Following the success of YONO among youngsters, we are planning to provide similar services to globetrotters, businessmen and the farmers. This will be launched around April”. He said, “For the businessmen, all their needs and requirements will be put under one card or services. For NRIs and globetrotters, their exclusive needs are presently being mapped.”

He added that “For farmers, the ‘YONO Farmer’ service will offer several agriculture-related services such as seeds, climate or weather information, KCC (Kisan Credit Card) loans, gold loans and online market information.

Kumar said, “This platform will be rolled out originally in 6 vernacular languages”.

YONO, since its launch in the year 2017 has recorded around 61 lakh users and registrations and daily 5000 applications are logged in and Rs 50 crore disbursals are made.

The SBI today (5th February) will be conducting the ‘YONO SBI 20 Under Twenty’ awards function.

Indian sports shooter Manu Bhaker, Zaira Wasim of Secret Superstar Bollywood movie and Rajasthani folk singer Jasu Khan are among the 20 achievers in 10 diverse fields. 16-year-old Hridayeshwar Singh Bhati, the creator of Six-Player Chess also bagged the special ‘Jury’s choice’ award for his exceptional talent despite being wheel-chair bound.

The winners were selected through public voting that counted to over 1.7 lakh in 10 diverse categories like acting, sustainability, performing arts, sports, entrepreneurship or innovation, global Indian, disability champion etc. The nominations were then shortlisted by a respected jury panel of 8 well-known personalities that included Bollywood actress Dia Mirza, Sashi Sreedharan, MD, Microsoft India, Sports journalist and author Boria Majumdar etc.
