Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush, inaugurated the Vaccination Centre for Children at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) on 24th July 2022. Apart from this, he also launched the Bal Raksha mobile app, which aims to raise parental awareness of paediatric preventive healthcare through Ayurvedic intervention.
The app will also solicit feedback from parents on the kit's impact on their children's health and immunity. Sonowal paid tribute to Late Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who served as H.O.D at AIIA's Shalya Tantra Department before succumbing to pandemic in 2020.
The Minister also spoke to students at the Institute, motivating them by sharing insights on how Ayurveda has gained global acceptance and what this means for students pursuing Ayurveda studies.
Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, Director of AIIAD, and faculty members greeted Sonowal upon his arrival. Jai Devi Kaushal, MLA from Malihabad, Uttar Pradesh, was also present.
She brought some saplings for the Institute's plantation drive. Sonowal, Kaushal, and Dr. Nesari planted saplings in the garden and toured the Institute.
The All India Institute of Ayurveda, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Ayush, aims to bring together traditional Ayurvedic wisdom and modern tools and technology.
The Institute has 12 specialty departments, 30 outpatient clinics with cutting-edge interdisciplinary research laboratories, and an international collaborative centre for global Ayurvedic promotion and research.
Ayurveda is the world's oldest medical and health science system, dating back over 3,000 years. During the Covid era, AIIA played a significant role in treating patients at the Covid Healthcare Centre in accordance with its mission of "care with compassion."
