On the occasion of India's 75th year of independence, Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal dedicated two new AYUSH institute buildings to the people of India. Today, Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the new Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) headquarters office at Tambaram Sanatorium in Chennai, as well as the new extension OPD block of Ayothidoss Pandithar Hospital of the National Institute of Siddha.
Ma. Subramanian, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, Prof. (Dr.) K. Kankavalli, Director General, CCRS, Prof. (Dr.) R. Meenakumari, Director, National Institute of Siddha, Pramod Kumar Pathak, Special Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and other distinguished guests, CCRS officials and staff, NIS faculty members were present on this occasion.
In his address to the gathering, Sarbananda Sonowal stated, "I am deeply grateful and thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing a special impetus to all Ayush systems, including Siddha, both nationally and globally."

The Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) is the apex organization for the Siddha system of medicine's research. Its primary goal is to scientifically validate Siddha claims for global acceptance.
CCRS recently validated the effectiveness of Siddha formulations during the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trials and has published more than 30 quality research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
In contrast, the National Institute of Siddha (NIS) is the apex and premier Institute for the Siddha system of medicine, with a primary mandate for patient care, teaching, and research in higher education for postgraduate and doctoral research scholars.
