
In a landmark development for the biological agriculture sector, Sandeepa Kanitkar has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Biological Agri Solutions Association of India (BASAI), succeeding Juzar S. Khorakiwala during the BASAI Board Room Meeting held on May 5, 2025, at Aerocity, New Delhi—an event that marked a significant moment in BASAI’s journey and ushered in a new era of strategic growth and innovation in the biological agri-inputs sector.
The meeting was attended by distinguished dignitaries and key stakeholders from across the industry, including Toru Tamura San, Managing Director of BCA, and Vipin Saini, CEO of BASAI. In his address, Vipin Saini emphasized BASAI’s role as a pioneering force in shaping India’s regulatory framework for biologicals, noting the association’s leadership in addressing the evolving needs of the sector.
Sandeepa Kanitkar, a Cornell-certified Agri-Business expert, brings with her a rich legacy of innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainable farming. She has been recognized globally for her contributions to agriculture, including receiving the prestigious WIPO Gold Medal in 2007 and the Outstanding Invention Award.
Under her leadership, BASAI aims to further its mission of revolutionizing Indian agriculture by promoting the adoption of biofertilizers, biopesticides, and biostimulants.
