At a review meeting with the agricultural department on Wednesday at BRKR Bhavan, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said that over 97,913 farmers in the state had received roughly Rs 4,896 crore under the Rythu Bima.
The KCR government launched the Rythu Bima or Farmers Group Life Insurance Program in 2018. It is a welfare scheme for farmers. In the event of a farmer's death, it offers financial relief and social security to farmers or their relatives. Farmers between the ages of 18 and 59 are eligible to register for the scheme.
Under the Rythu Bandhu welfare scheme, around 65 lakh farmers received Rs.65,191 crore. The Chief Secretary said that the formation of the state led to the achievement of many agricultural goals.
"Pro-agricultural policies have helped Magani reach its objective of one crore acres. Farmers have benefited greatly from schemes like the Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima, which provide 24-hour electricity and agricultural products, according to the speaker.
"Paddy is grown across the state on a total of one crore twenty lakh acres of land during the Vanakalam and Yasangi seasons. With 56.37 lakh acres of land, cotton is the next crop after paddy. In terms of rice and cotton production, Telangana comes in second and third, respectively, she said.
She stated that the government had taken sufficient action to address the issue of selling bogus seeds to farmers. "347 cases have been registered, and 551 persons have been arrested. 11,872 quintals of fraudulent seeds have been confiscated, and 16 people have been charged under the PD Act as a result,” she said.
A steering committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, in order to educate the farmers on new agricultural tools and technologies.
The Chief Secretary also stated that the farming community should engage more in horticulture and growing vegetables. The Chief Secretary also asked the officials to take stricter steps in order to curb and cut down on the menace.
