The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is all set to issue new Rs 20 notes for the public. The notes will come in a green-yellow colour and in the Mahatma Gandhi series.
A press release by the Reserve Bank of India stated that the new notes will contain a motif of the famous Ellora Caves on the reverse side, which will portray the country’s true cultural heritage.
The new Rs 20 note will be launched in a greenish-yellow shade.
Bearing the signature of the 25th governor of RBI Mr. Shaktikanta Das, the measurement of the new note will be 63 mm x 129 mm. The base colour of the new note will be Greenish Yellow and it will include “other designs, geometric patterns that will align with the overall colour scheme - both at the front and back”.
The press release also explained that the previous notes in the denomination of Rs 20 launched by the Reserve Bank of India will continue to be a legal tender.
Besides a picture of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, the new note will also have the denominational numeral 20 written in the Devnagari script.
You may also get to see the Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right side, Mahatma Gandhi picture & electrotype (20) watermarks - a number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side & bottom right side at the front in the new notes.
On the back, the new 20 rupees notes will contain the year of printing on the left side, the Swachh Bharat logo with a slogan, the customary language panel and the famous Ellora caves motif.
Till now, the central bank has already introduced new notes in the denomination Rs 10, Rs 50, Rs 200, Rs 500 and Rs 2,000.
