A ration card is an essential document to take advantage of government schemes. Now the ration card number is also needed in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna being run by the Central Government for the welfare of farmers.

Therefore, if the name of any member of your family has not been included in the ration card, then you can add the names of all the members of the family to the ration card by the process mentioned.

If the name of a new member is to be added to the ration card, then the head of the family must have a ration card. To get the name added, a photocopy of the ration card will have to be kept along with the original card. If someone is born in the family, then it is mandatory to have his birth certificate to get his name added. Apart from this, the Aadhar card of the parents of the child will also be required. If there is a newly married woman in the family, then to get her name added, it is necessary to have an Aadhar card, marriage certificate, and ration card from the head of the family.

Here's an easy way to add a name to the ration card:

  • First of all, you have to go to the website of the food department of your state. For example, if you belong to UP, then you can apply by visiting this website. https://fcs.up.gov.in/ and if you are a resident of another state, then you can apply by visiting the website of the food department of that state.

  • On this website, first you have to create a login ID for your ration card. If you have already created an ID then you have to log in.

  • On the website you will see an option that says 'Add new member', click on it. From there a new form will open.

  • After this, all the information sought about the new member will have to be filled on this page.

  • After filling out this form, a copy of the required documents will also have to be uploaded.

  • After processing all this, you have to click on submit.

  • After submitting a registration number will be given. After that, your work will be completed.

  • After you process it, the department officials will check it. If the information filled in the application is correct, then the form will be accepted and the ration card will be delivered to your home through the post.

  • If you want to track your application in the meantime, then its status can be checked by registration number.
