Rajasthan's Agriculture Minister, Dr. Kirori Lal Meena, has intensified the state's ongoing crackdown on fake fertilizer manufacturing units. On May 30, 2025, teams conducted raids in Kishangarh, Ajmer, targeting multiple factories in Dindwara, Udaipurkalan, Tilonia, Nalu, and Bandarsindri, where large-scale production of counterfeit fertilizers was underway.

During the raids, authorities discovered that marble powder and soil were being mixed to manufacture fake DAP, SSP, and potash. Thousands of empty branded fertilizer bags and labels were also found in these illegal facilities, suggesting that the counterfeit products were being packaged under the names of reputed companies and prepared for sale to unsuspecting farmers.

Dr. Meena reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the availability of high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs to farmers. He added that the agriculture department regularly conducts special quality control drives to curb black marketing, hoarding, and the distribution of fake fertilizers.

Ajmer district is home to 21 fertilizer manufacturing units, out of which 8 are located in the Kishangarh area. As per instructions from the Agriculture Minister, inspections were carried out on Thursday and Friday at both licensed and unlicensed facilities in villages including Udaipurkalan, Tilonia, and Nalu.

The investigation revealed that Atisha Biotech, located near Churli, holds a valid license to manufacture PROM and Potash Derived Molasses (PDM), but it was also found producing substandard Sagarika fertilizer without authorization. Due to discrepancies in disclosing the ingredients used in production, 631.47 metric tons of PROM, PDM, and Sagarika fertilizers were seized, and four samples were collected for testing.

Divya Agro Fertilizer Industries, though licensed for PROM and PDM, was also found manufacturing low-quality Sagarika fertilizer without valid approval. Due to the absence of proper documentation and use of substandard raw materials, 879.85 metric tons of fertilizers were confiscated.

At Bhumi Agro Industries in Udaipurkalan, a licensed unit for bio-fertilizers, unauthorized raw materials and gypsum were found. Consequently, 1,750 metric tons of gypsum and other ingredients were seized and samples collected. Another unit, M/s Gordhan Agro in Udaipurkalan, also had its materials seized after unlicensed raw materials and gypsum were found, totaling 77.50 metric tons.

In Tikawara, three units were sealed due to suspected use of unauthorized raw materials for producing PROM and PDM. Further legal proceedings are underway. Action was also ongoing on Friday against Green Agro Industries and Radhika Agro Industries in Bandarsindri.

On Thursday, eight units were sealed under Section 28(1)(d) of the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985. On Friday, two more licensed units were under investigation. Authorities at both local and state levels seized a total of 2,798.04 metric tons of various fertilizers under different provisions of the Fertilizer Control Order, with legal proceedings and sample testing underway. Inspections of remaining units in the region are still in progress.

Additionally, district officials have been directed to conduct intensive inspections of the remaining 277 units across other districts in the state. Since April 1, 2025, a total of 1,464 fertilizer samples have been collected statewide, of which 136 were found substandard. Action is being taken against those responsible as per the provisions of the Fertilizer Control Order.

The pre-Kharif quality control drive runs from May 15 to July 10, 2025. Inspectors are visiting manufacturers and sellers to collect samples and initiate legal proceedings against those violating quality norms.
