
Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will begin the two-day ‘National Agriculture Conference – Rabi Abhiyan 2025’ at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, Pusa Campus, New Delhi, today. Scheduled for September 15–16, the conference will provide a platform for agriculture experts, scientists, policymakers, and senior representatives from all states to plan strategies and set production targets for the upcoming Rabi sowing season 2025–26.
The conference will be chaired by Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Agriculture Ministers from various states, the Secretary of the Union Agriculture Ministry, the Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Director General of ICAR, and senior officials from related ministries and departments will participate.
For the first time, the Rabi Conference will be held over two days under the direction of the Union Agriculture Minister. On the first day, discussions will be held between Central and state-level officials on key issues related to Rabi crops. On September 16, Agriculture Ministers from across the country will hold detailed deliberations with the Union Agriculture Minister and Union Ministers of State. The focus will be on ensuring that improved seed varieties, modern farming techniques, and new technologies are effectively delivered to farmers.
In another first, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras have been invited to share regional insights, challenges, and practical experiences to strengthen future strategies. States will also present their success stories and best practices, offering models that can be replicated elsewhere.
The sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including weather forecasting, fertiliser management, agricultural research, and the role of technological innovations in boosting productivity.
The outcome of the conference will form the action plan for Rabi 2025–26, with the aim of boosting farmers’ income, promoting sustainable farming systems, and ensuring national food security.
