Aadhaar is a twelve digit identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on behalf of the Government of India. It is considered as an important proof of identity and address in India.
It is easier to confirm a person's identification when data like biometrics, address evidence, and an image is available. Additionally, UIDAI has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with a mobile number in order to simplify the identification procedure.
People can more easily access the online Self Service Update Portal (SSUP), mAadhaar App, and other Aadhaar-related services by linking their Aadhaar card with their smartphone. The government may check various connections with Aadhaar data and identify the owner of the mobile phone thanks to the linking, which is very important. If a user's mobile number is connected to their Aadhaar, they can also get a copy of their Aadhaar card if they lose the original.
Here is a step-by-step instruction to help you link your mobile number to an Aadhaar card or verify if it is already linked.
How to link mobile number with Aadhar card
-
Visit your nearest Aadhar Enrolment Centre.
-
Fill out the Aadhar Correction Form given by the executive.
-
Next, fill in the mobile number that you want to update on your Aadhaar card.
-
The Aadhaar executive takes your biometrics for authentication and finally submits the form.
-
The executive will offer you an acknowledgment slip for your request, so keep the Update Request Number (URN) slip regarding it.
-
The Aadhaar update status can be followed using the Update Request Number.
-
Once the connection process is complete and your cell phone number is registered with your Aadhaar, you will receive an Aadhaar OTP for using a variety of facilities.
-
You can also call UIDAI's toll-free number 1947 to get the Aadhaar update status.
