Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, will inaugurate a new state-of-the-art Chemical Laboratory at the National Test House (NTH) in Ghaziabad on September 10, 2025. The facility is aimed at boosting testing and research standards across critical sectors, including construction, food safety, packaging, and industrial materials.

The laboratory will be capable of testing a wide range of products, from packaged drinking water, mineral water, and food packaging materials to enamelled wires, coal, petroleum coke, bitumen, paints, filtration media, and chalk. It will also cover building materials, cement, metals, plastics, paper, fertilizers, and organic products, making it a hub for multi-sectoral testing services.

The new lab is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and has approvals from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985.

Equipped with advanced instruments such as the Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma–Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES), Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Ion Chromatograph, the facility will enable precise testing and high-end analysis across sectors.

Beyond testing, the NTH Ghaziabad laboratory will also provide training, research, and technical support to industries, engineering colleges, and universities, thereby strengthening the link between academia and industry.

The lab also plans to expand its scope to include testing of fortified food products such as wheat flour, refined flour (maida), nuts, edible oils, and salt enriched with vitamins A and D, along with micronutrient analysis and spice testing. These additions will further enhance its contribution to public health, food safety, and quality assurance.

Established in 1977, the National Test House in Ghaziabad has been a key institution for testing and calibration services. With this new chemical laboratory, it is expected to play an even bigger role in ensuring product quality, safety, and innovation in the years ahead.
