Here comes a good news from the Ministry of skill development & entrepreneurship. It has extended the enrollments under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) by two months. This is for the north-eastern region, which includes eight north-eastern states. However, the centrally sponsored PMKVY 2016-20 comes to an end for other places across India on March 31, 2020.
The ministry stated, "Due to the recent lockdown amid COVID-19 crisis, MSDE, after examining the whole scenarios has decided that the last date of enrollment of candidates under centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 2016-20 to May 31 only for north-eastern region. But it will remain the same i.e. March 31, 2020 for non-NER states."
The ministry has also advised all states to resume training & orientation within 30 days of the revocation of the lockdown which must be completed before August 31, 2020. While all assessments and certification should be completed by September 15, 2020.
Adding to it, the center with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has recently decided to train over 41,000 youth of Rajasthan under the ambitious PMKVY.
What is Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana?
PMKVY is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). It is also known as the Skill Certification Scheme.
