The Ministry of Women and Child Development is all set to launch the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada, scheduled to be observed from 8th to 22nd April 2025. This nationwide campaign aims to combat malnutrition and enhance the overall health and well-being of women and children.

This year’s edition will focus on four key themes: the critical first 1,000 days of life, promotion of the beneficiary module of the Poshan Tracker, management of malnutrition through the CMAM (Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition) approach, and encouraging healthy lifestyles to address childhood obesity.

The campaign will officially commence with a special webcast on April 8, during which the Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, will address officials from 18 partner ministries, state Women and Child Development departments, and Anganwadi workers across the country.

In addition, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, will visit Arunachal Pradesh during the first week of the campaign to assess the implementation of ongoing initiatives and support systems for women and children in the state.

This year’s Poshan Pakhwada is designed to be outcome-oriented and will actively involve various stakeholders through initiatives such as home visits, nutrition camps, and awareness drives conducted at the village, block, and district levels.

The campaign seeks to educate communities on holistic nutrition practices, including exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and the use of digital tools like the Poshan Tracker to foster community participation and empowerment.

Launched under the Poshan Abhiyaan, a flagship initiative led by the Prime Minister, Poshan Pakhwada aims to improve nutritional outcomes for pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six years of age.

The initiative now functions as part of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, with a strong focus on boosting immunity, promoting wellness, and strengthening the grassroots healthcare delivery ecosystem.
