Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has been launched by the Central Government to give the benefit of government schemes to every citizen of the country. Under this scheme, Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in public and private banks. Through these accounts, the benefit of government schemes including PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Kisan Yojana is being routed directly through the online process. In the past few months during the corona crisis, the government has extended benefits of various schemes to the Jan Dhan Accounts of millions of people. One more thing to mention, if anyone have other savings account, it can be converted into Jan Dhan Account. Benefits of Jan Dhan Account
Every person who opens Jan Dhan Account gets special benefits associated with the scheme. Along with the interest received on the deposit, he/she will get accident insurance cover of one lakh rupees. It is not mandatory to keep any minimum amount in the account. On the death of account holder, his/her family is provided an amount of Rs. 30, 000. And, this account has an overdraft facility of up to 5 thousand rupees for the women of the family.
Other benefits are-
1. Interest is received on the amount deposited in the Jan Dhan account.
2. Free mobile banking facility is provided to the account holder.
3. Account holder can overdraft up to Rs. 10,000 from his/her account.
