During the Annual General Meeting, PMFAI honored Professor Dr. G D Yadav, National Science Chair (SERB/DST/GOI) for his contributions to green chemistry, catalysis, nanotechnology, and chemical engineering research, innovation, and education. He is a member of Washington, DC's prestigious National Academy of Engineering (NAE).
The President of PMFAI, Pradeep Dave started the event with his speech followed by the welcome addresses by many eminent personalities.
Addressing the 54th Annual General Meeting of PMFAI, he said, “PMFAI has raised industry concerns with various ministries and has been given the opportunity to address them before the parliamentary standing committee on agriculture."
Dr. G D Yadav said, “India currently has 1.4 billion people, and in order to avoid hunger and maintain food security, we need food from a less deliverable land. As a result, we must modify the seeds to improve their quality."
During the 54th AGM of PMFAI, a panel of speakers from the industry including Anay Amin, Senior Associate & Attorney, Y J Trivedi and Company, Ahmedabad; Pooja Vishnoi- General Manager & Regulatory Head, Auxlife Scientific Services Pvt Ltd; DVS Narayana Raju, Executive Director at Deccan Fine Chemicals Pvt Ltd and Dr. K N Singh- Vice President at Gharda Chemicals Ltd also addressed the participants.
India currently ranks fourth in the world in terms of agrochemical production, behind China, Japan, and the United States.
Dave noted that while there is a global decline in investments in the agrochemicals industry for the development of novel molecules, it has grown in India as Indian companies have increased their spending on R&D.
