PM to Visit Shimla to Participate in ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ on 31st May

The freewheeling interaction being organized across the country aims to collect open and honest feedback from the public, understand the impact of welfare schemes on people's lives, and investigate convergence and saturation with regard to various government programmes.

On May 31, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Shima, Himachal Pradesh. The Prime Minister will attend the 'Garib Kalyan Sammelan' at around 11 a.m. This innovative public programme, marking the end of the Prime Minister's eight-year tenure, is being held across the country at state capitals, district headquarters, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras.

The Sammelan envisions elected public representatives across the country directly interacting with the public in order to gather feedback on the government's various welfare programmes.

'Garib Kalyan Sammelan' will begin at approximately 09:45 a.m., with Chief Ministers, Central Ministers, State Ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, and other elected public representatives directly interacting with the public at their respective locations across the country.

With the Prime Minister joining the programme around 11:00 a.m., the various state and local level programmes will be covered, making the Sammelan national.

During the Sammelan, the Prime Minister will meet with beneficiaries of various programmes from nine Ministries/Departments of the Government of India.

The goal is to improve the reach and delivery of government programmes in order to improve the quality of life for the country's citizens.

Prime Minister will also make available the eleventh installment of financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

This will allow for the transfer of approximately Rs. 21,000 crore to over 10 crore beneficiary farmer families. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also meet with beneficiaries of the (PM-KISAN) programme from across the country.
