Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, February 3, 2024, inaugurated an eco-friendly campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur built by National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited, NBCC, in the presence of Raghubar Das, Governor, Odisha, Naveen Pattanaik, Chief Minister, Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Bishweswar Tudu, Minister of State, Ministry of Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs and other dignitaries.
On this occasion, K.P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC said that the 200-acre IIM Sambalpur campus with 32 buildings having a built-up area of 64,000 sqm has been completed by NBCC with sustainable and energy-efficient features within time and cost. Regional Sambalpuri art has been embedded in the architecture of the campus buildings with traditional lkat patterns mapped into the brick facade with remarkable elegance.
NBCC Partnering in Odisha’s Progress
NBCC has been closely associated with the development of key infrastructure projects in Odisha. Some of the key projects include 500 Bedded Medical College & Hospital, Talcher, Development of Sports Facilities for New Medical College, Science Academy, Development of Vyas Sarovar in Jajpur, IIT, Bhubaneswar, Ravenshaw University Cuttack, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, National Law University etc.
Apart from the above, NBCC has entered into building agri-infrastructure for the construction of the world’s largest grain storage plan in the cooperative sector. Till now, 56 MoUs have been signed with various Primary Agriculture cooperatives and cooperative banks in the state. These storage units once created shall help the rural economy and benefit farmers.
