Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to partake in the Sashakt Nari - Viksit Bharat programme, which will feature agricultural drone demonstrations conducted by Namo Drone Didis. The event is set to take place at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi on March 11th at 10 AM. During the event, PM Modi will witness drone demonstrations carried out by Namo Drone Didis from 11 different locations across the country. These demonstrations will run concurrently, showcasing the widespread reach and impact of the initiative.
Namo Drone Didis: Empowering Women in Agriculture
The Namo Drone Didi and Lakhpati Didi initiatives align with the Prime Minister's vision of empowering women economically and fostering financial autonomy, particularly in rural areas. These initiatives aim to provide opportunities for women to actively participate in the agricultural sector and enhance their livelihoods.
As part of the programme, Prime Minister Modi will honor Lakhpati Didis who have achieved significant success with the support of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission. These women have not only attained financial prosperity but are also actively engaged in supporting and motivating other members of Self-Help Groups towards their upliftment.
Financial Support to SHGs
In a significant move towards bolstering the financial infrastructure for women in rural areas, Prime Minister Modi will disburse approximately Rs 8,000 crore in bank loans to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at subsidized interest rates. These funds will be distributed through Bank Linkage Camps established by banks in each district, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
Moreover, PM Modi will allocate approximately Rs 2,000 crore from the Capitalization Support Fund to SHGs, further strengthening their financial capabilities and enabling them to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and sustainable livelihoods.
The Sashakt Nari - Viksit Bharat programme underscores the government's commitment to women's empowerment and rural development, providing a platform for women to thrive in the agricultural sector and contribute to the nation's progress.
