On September 5, 2022 at 4:30 PM, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the winners of the 2022 National Awards to Teachers at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.
The goal of the National Awards to Teachers, according to the official statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), is to recognize and honour the distinctive contribution of some of the best teachers in the nation who, through their dedication and diligence, have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.
The statement further said that deserving elementary and secondary school teachers receive public recognition through the National Awards to Teachers.
This year, 45 teachers throughout the nation were selected for the prize after a rigorous and open online three stage selection process.
To honour the birth anniversary of the former president of India, S. Radhakrishnan, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has also announced that it will host a five-day online national level panel debate from September 5 to September 9 in place of Teacher's Day.
Eminent persons with renowned panellists from the academic community will preside over the event. On this occasion, the UGC will also unveil its e-Samadhan platform and research grant/fellowship schemes. The show will be streamed live on the UGC's Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter accounts.
UGC has also published guidelines for converting higher education institutions (HEIs) into multidisciplinary organisations. It is advised that all colleges and universities implement the necessary measures under the criteria to become multidisciplinary institutions.
On September 5, teachers will be honoured and respected throughout India as part of the Teacher's Day celebrations. The former president of India, S Radhakrishnan, was born on September 5. He pushed for his birthday to be observed as Teacher's Day in honour of educators.
