PM Modi to Inaugurate Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar

The Prime Minister will kick off Digital India Week 2022, with the theme 'Catalyzing New India's Techade.' During the programme, the Prime Minister will launch a number of digital initiatives aimed at improving technology accessibility, streamlining service delivery to ensure ease of living, and assisting startups.

On July 4, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh, and Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Around 11 a.m., Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the year-long commemoration of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju's birth anniversary in Bhimavaram. Following that, at approximately 4:30 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar.

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the government is committed to recognizing and making people aware of the contributions of freedom fighters. As part of the effort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the year-long commemoration of the legendary freedom fighter, Alluri Sitarama Raju, in Bhimavaram. In addition, the Prime Minister will unveil a 30-foot-tall bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju.

Alluri Sitarama Raju, born on July 4, 1897, is remembered for his fight against the British to protect the interests of tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region. He was the leader of the Rampa rebellion, which began in 1922. By the local people., he is known as "Manyam Veerudu" (Hero of the Jungle).

As part of the year-long celebration, the government has planned a number of initiatives. The birthplace of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Vizianagaram district and Chintapalli Police Station (to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Rampa Rebellion - the attack on this police station marked the start of the Rampa Rebellion) will be restored. The government has also approved the construction of the Alluri Dhyana Mandir in Mogallu, which will include a statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra, depicting the freedom fighter's life story through mural paintings and an AI-enabled interactive system.

The Prime Minister will kick off Digital India Week 2022, with the theme 'Catalyzing New India's Techade.' During the programme, the Prime Minister will launch a number of digital initiatives aimed at improving technology accessibility, streamlining service delivery to ensure ease of living, and assisting startups.

The Prime Minister will announce the launch of 'Digital India Bhashini,' which will facilitate easy access to the internet and digital services in Indian languages, including voice-based access, and will aid in the creation of content in Indian languages. The creation of multilingual datasets will be a critical intervention in developing AI-based language technology solutions for Indian languages. Through a crowdsourcing initiative called BhashaDaan, Digital India Bhashini will enable massive citizen engagement in the creation of these datasets.

The Prime Minister will unveil 'Digital India GENESIS' (Gen-next Support for Innovative Startups), a National Deep-tech Startup Platform designed to discover, support, grow, and create successful startups in India's Tier-II and Tier-III cities. The scheme is expected to cost a total of 750 crores.

The Prime Minister will also launch 'Indiastack.global,' a global repository of key India Stack projects such as Aadhaar, UPI, Digilocker, CowiN Vaccination Platform, Government e-MarketPlace (GeM), DIKSHA Platform, and Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission. This contribution by India to the Global Public Digital Goods repository will help position India as a leader in building Digital Transformation projects at a population scale, and will be of enormous assistance to other countries seeking such technology solutions.

The Prime Minister will dedicate 'MyScheme' to citizens, a service discovery platform that will facilitate access to Government Schemes. It intends to provide a one-stop search and discovery portal where users can find schemes for which they are eligible. He will also dedicate 'Meri Pehchaan'- National Single Sign On for One Citizen Login- to the citizens. National Single Sign-On (NSSO) is a user authentication service that allows access to multiple online applications or services using a single set of credentials.

The physical events for Digital India Week 2022 will take place in Gandhinagar from July 4th to 6th. The programme will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Digital India by demonstrating how public digital platforms such as Aadhaar, UPI, Cowin, Digilocker, and others have made life easier for citizens. It will demonstrate India's technological prowess to a global audience, explore collaboration and business opportunities with a diverse range of stakeholders, and present the Techade of NextGen opportunities.

It will feature Startups as well as leaders from government, industry, and academia. A Digital Mela will also be held, with over 200 stalls showcasing digital solutions that make life easier, as well as solutions developed by Indian unicorns and startups.  Digital India Week will also have India Stack Knowledge Exchange in virtual mode from 7th to 9th July.
