During his visit to Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open AIIMS, Bilaspur, and take part in the renowned Kullu Dussehra celebrations.
He will be the first prime minister to participate in the ancient Kullu Dussehra, where more than 300 local deities gather yearly. The custom has a history dating back more than 350 years.
JP Nadda, the national chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will join PM Modi at the "Shobha Yatra" location in Dhalpur. Jai Ram Thakur, Anurag Thakur, and Suresh Kashyap, the state chairman of the party, the Himachal Pradesh chief minister, will also go.
The Medical Device Park in Nalagarh, which will be built for roughly Rs 350 crore and greatly increase employment possibilities in the area, will have its foundation stone laid by the Prime Minister. For the establishment of enterprises in this Medical Device Park, MoUs of more than Rs 800 crore has already been signed, according to a PMO statement.

What is the history of Kullu Dusshera?
In the sixteenth century, Kullu was ruled by Raja Jagat Singh. The king was keen to own white, flawless pearls after learning that Durgadutt owned them. The monarch remained resistant to Durgadutt's attempts to convince him that he did not own the pearls. Then, after setting themselves on fire, Durgadutt and his family cursed the monarch. The king was upset, so on the advice of a wise pandit, he went to Ayodhya and bought an idol of Lord Raghunath. When carrying the idol from Ayodhya, the pandit vanished. They were located on the Saryu river's banks after a protracted search.
The idol was put in a temple when the pandit got to Kullu. The king prayed earnestly, and the curse was broken. After that, Jagat Singh began to celebrate Kullu Dussehra. On the first day of the festival, deities travel to the Dhalpur ground in their elaborately decorated palanquins after paying respects at the temple of the festival's main deity, Lord Raghunath.
