Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare addressed a press conference today for the 2-day PM Kisan Samman Sammelan-2022, set to take place on Oct 17 and Oct 18, at Pusa in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the event at Mela Ground, IARI. As part of PM Kisan’s 12th installment, PM Modi is expected to release Rs 16,000 crores for the farmers. After announcing the opening of ‘The Agri Start-up Conclave and Exhibition,’ PM has various launches lined up in order to benefit farmers and add pace to the industry. From unveiling ‘Bharat’ Urea Bags, under India's largest fertilizer project- One Nation One Fertilizer Scheme for Farmers to announcing 600 PM Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PM-KSK), one-stop shops for all farmer-related issues to the launch of Indian Edge, a weekly international e-magazine about fertilizer.
“PM Modi will address millions of farmers, Agri Start-ups, researchers, policymakers, bankers, and other stakeholders through the ‘PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022'," says Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at the press conference today.
Over one crore farmers will virtually participate in this event. Additionally participating online in the event are 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), 75 ICAR Institutes, 75 State Agricultural Universities, 600 PM Kisan Centers, 50,000 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and 2 Lakh Community Service Centers (CSCs).
Release of 12th Instalment of Rs. 16,000 Crores
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 12th installment amount of Rs. 16,000 Crores to farmers under the PM-KISAN flagship scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare. The scheme was launched by Prime Minister, on 24 February 2019. Under the scheme, eligible farmer families are provided Rs. 6000 per year in three equal installments of Rs. 2000 each. The benefit is transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer mode, using modern digital technology.
Inauguration of Agri Startup Conclave & Exhibition
On the first day of the Sammelan, about 300 start-ups will present their innovation in Precision Farming, Post-Harvest & Value-Added Solutions, Allied Agriculture, Waste to Wealth, Mechanization for Small Farmers, Supply Chain Management & Argi-Logistic. With the help of this platform, startups can connect with farmers, FPOs, agri-experts, and corporations. On October 18, during the technical sessions, startups will discuss their experiences and engage with other stakeholders. The role of startups in the 5 trillion economy and the current government initiatives to support the startup ecosystem will be discussed by policymakers.
Launch of 600 PM Kisan Samruddhi Kendras
At present, there are around 2.7 Lakh fertilizer retail shops in the country at the village, sub-district/ sub-division/ taluk, and district levels. PM will inaugurate 600 PM. Kisan Samruddhi Kendras (PM-KSK) of Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. It is proposed to covert 3, 30,499 retail fertilizer shops into PMKSK. In the pilot phase, at least one retail shop at each district level will be converted into a model shop.
Official Launch of Bharat Urea Bags - One Nation One Fertilizer Scheme
During the event, the prime minister will unveil Bharat urea bags. He will also launch India's largest fertilizer initiative- One Nation One Fertilizer (ONOF). ONOF requires fertilizer companies to promote their products under the "Bharat" brand name. The change will result in less fertilizer being supplied in a crisscross pattern, increasing freight subsidies.
Launch of Weekly Fertilizer International e-Magazine
The Prime Minister will introduce Indian Edge, a weekly international e-magazine about fertilizer. It will give details on the domestic and global fertilizer market, including current events, analyses of price trends, availability, and use, as well as the success stories of farmers.
