PM Modi Meets Japanese Delegation to Discuss Agriculture, Clean Energy, AI, and Investment Opportunities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with a high-powered Japanese business delegation from Keizai Doyukai, led by Chairperson Takeshi Niinami, along with 20 other corporate executives, at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg on March 27, 2025. The discussions aimed at strengthening economic ties between India and Japan, with a focus on trade, investment, and collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, marine products, space, defence, insurance, technology, infrastructure, aviation, clean energy, nuclear energy, and MSMEs.

PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and highlighted the Japan Plus initiative, which streamlines and accelerates Japanese investments in India.

He assured the delegation that India’s policy-driven governance ensures transparency and predictability, eliminating any ambiguity for investors. He also spoke about the rapid expansion of India’s aviation sector, emphasizing infrastructure development, including new airports and enhanced logistics capabilities.

The Prime Minister also discussed India's ambitious green energy initiatives, particularly in biofuels, which hold great potential for the agricultural sector. By leveraging biofuels, Indian farmers can benefit from value-added opportunities, aligning with the country’s sustainable development goals.

Artificial intelligence emerged as another critical area of collaboration, with PM Modi highlighting India’s role in the evolving AI landscape and encouraging Japanese businesses to partner in this field.

The meeting also touched upon India’s expanding insurance sector and emerging opportunities in space and nuclear energy. The Japanese delegation expressed strong interest in deepening ties and leveraging India’s diverse market and skilled workforce.

Takeshi Niinami acknowledged the strong India-Japan partnership and praised PM Modi’s vision of "Make in India, Make for the World."

Corporate leaders like Tanakaa Shigehiro of NEC Corporation appreciated the clarity of Modi’s expectations for Japanese investments. The interaction underscored the shared commitment of both nations to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
