Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and launched dedicated development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crore in Karakat, Bihar today, May 30, 2025. In his address, he placed strong emphasis on the government's ongoing efforts to transform agriculture in Bihar and uplift the lives of farmers.

During his address, the Prime Minister said that more than 75 lakh farmers in the state are receiving financial aid through the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. He also announced the formation of a Makhana Board, highlighting that Bihar’s Makhana, which now has a GI tag, is gaining global popularity and boosting farmers’ incomes.

Additionally, the Prime Minister shared that the 2025 Union Budget includes plans to establish a National Institute for Food Processing in Bihar, which will further strengthen value addition and processing capacity.

Highlighting a recent decision, PM Modi mentioned the Cabinet’s approval to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops, including paddy, benefiting farmers across the country. He also drew attention to Bihar’s progress in renewable energy, noting the construction of a solar park in Kajra and the support for solar-powered agricultural feeders under the PM-KUSUM scheme. These initiatives are enabling farmers to generate their own electricity and income while improving farm productivity.

PM Modi stressed that these agricultural and rural-focused developments are empowering small industries and villages by opening access to national and international markets. He recalled the Bihar Business Summit, where several companies pledged to invest in the state, creating job opportunities that reduce the need for labour migration. Improved transport infrastructure, he said, is helping farmers reach wider markets, enhancing their profitability and strengthening the rural economy.

Prime Minister also highlighted major infrastructure milestones, including the inauguration of Patna Airport’s new terminal and the ongoing Rs 1,400 crore investment in Bihta Airport. He noted that world-class Vande Bharat trains are running in Bihar and railway tracks are being doubled and tripled across key districts like Muzaffarpur and Katihar.

Multi-tracking work between Son Nagar and Andal is expected to boost rail connectivity significantly. Additionally, roads connecting Patna to Buxar, Gaya to Dobhi, and Patna to Bodh Gaya are being rapidly developed, while new bridges over the Ganga, Son, Gandak, and Kosi rivers are opening new avenues for growth.

Addressing national security, PM Modi recalled the recent Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirmed India’s swift response under “Operation Sindoor,” stating that those behind the violence were eliminated. He saluted the courage of BSF jawans, especially Bihar's own Sub-Inspector Shri Imtiaz who was martyred at the border, saying that India’s response was proof of its strength. “This is New India,” he declared, “one that acts decisively and strikes with power.”

PM Modi also reflected on Bihar’s transformation from a state once affected by Naxal violence to one now developing rapidly. He said that the number of Naxal-affected districts in India has dropped from over 125 to just 18 due to continuous efforts since 2014. He assured that road projects, schools, hospitals, and mobile networks are now reaching remote areas that were once cut off from basic services due to extremism.

Concluding his address, PM Modi said that the government's welfare programmes like 'Lakhpati Didi' are empowering women economically, while free ration and medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh are ensuring security for the poor and elderly. "This is true social justice," he said, “not slogans, but results.”
