Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with all the sarpanchs in the country via video conferencing today i.e. on 24 April 2020 at 11 am on the occasion of the National Panchayati Raj Day 2020. All the sarpanchs has joined this interaction from their respective homes at a Common Service Centre (CSC) close to them, while follow the social distancing norms of the covid-19 lockdown.
PM Modi during interaction with Sarpanches said, “The villages in India have given the mantra of ‘Do gaj doori’ to define social distancing in simpler terms, to fight coronavirus pandemic. Self-reliance is the biggest lesson from COVID-19 pandemic.”
He added, “We need to be self dependent and prepared to manage all of our needs, without hoping for any support from outside. Strong Gram Panchayats are base for self-dependent villages.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a unified e-GramSwaraj portal & a mobile app aimed for the Panchayati Raj system in the country, while addressing different gram panchayats across the country.
What is Gram Swaraj Portal?
eGramSwaraj portal has been launched by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in India. The initiative of gram swaraj portal will help in decentralised planning, progress reporting & work-based accounting. The various aspects of eGramSwaraj will include Finances & Accounting, Progress reporting, Geo-tagging of assets, Gram Panchayat profiling, Activity output and Action plan creation.
The gram swaraj website lists down the latest updates like the number of profiles created, the physical progress completed, financial progress on boarding, the number of approved GPDPs (Gram Panchayat Development Plans) and the geo-tagging initiated. There will also be the progress reporting section for both physical & financial progress for the different states. Adding to it, there is the Reports section that has Panchayat Profiles, Accounting, Planning and PFMS Dashboards, & the Supporting Documents section.
