In a significant milestone for the textile industry in Maharashtra, the state has been awarded with the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati. The announcement was made by the Union Minister of Textiles, Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal during the launch ceremony of PM MITRA Textile Park in Amravati.

The Union Minister praised Maharashtra's remarkable contributions across the entire textile value chain, making it a natural choice for hosting the textile park. From farming to fiber to factory to fashion and even foreign trade, Maharashtra has been a powerhouse in the textile sector.

Piyush Goyal underscored the vital role of the well-connected infrastructure of Amravati in boosting the textile industry in Maharashtra. The region's efficient road, rail, port, and airport networks are expected to facilitate seamless operations within the PM MITRA Textile Park and drive the rapid progress of the state's textile sector.

The launch ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles, Darshana Jardosh.

Darshana Jardosh, during her speech, emphasized India's historical significance as a textile hub and stressed that establishing PM MITRA Parks in various states, including Maharashtra, is a crucial step towards transforming India into a global textiles manufacturing hub. The integrated textile park is expected to attract substantial investments, create numerous employment opportunities, and foster innovation, research, and training in the textiles sector.

As part of the ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Government of Maharashtra, and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, solidifying their commitment to the establishment of PM MITRA Park.

The PM MITRA Textile Park in Amravati is projected to attract an investment of Rs. 10,000 crore, offering a significant boost to the region's economy and employment landscape. The park, spread across a contiguous 1020 acres of land at Nandgaon Peth, adjacent to the Additional Amravati Industrial Area (MIDC), enjoys strategic proximity to the Mumbai Nagpur Samruddhi Highway and the Wardha Dry Port, located just 147 kilometers away.

As a brownfield park, it already possesses essential infrastructure such as roads, water, and electricity, ensuring a seamless start to its operations.
