PM Kisan 20th Instalment: The 20th instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme will be released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 2 from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. In a high-level meeting held in Delhi today, July 29, 2025, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reviewed the preparations for the nationwide rollout.
Union Minister stated that the scheme has played a crucial role in providing direct financial support to millions of farmers and that the upcoming instalment will be launched as part of a countrywide campaign.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, over 9.7 crore farmers are expected to receive the 20th instalment, with a total disbursement of approximately Rs 20,500 crore directly into their bank accounts. Since its inception in 2019, PM-KISAN scheme has transferred Rs 3.69 lakh crore to eligible farmers across the country through 19 instalments.
The event in Varanasi will be the focal point of the launch, with virtual participation from 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over 100 Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) institutes, and vice-chancellors of agricultural universities from across India.
The scheme provides Rs 6,000 annually to eligible farmers, paid in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each, offering essential income support to the farming community.
Chouhan emphasized that the event will not only facilitate financial assistance but also act as a significant outreach initiative. “Every state will organize events where lakhs of farmers, state ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local representatives will participate,” he said.
He urged farmers to actively take part in the events scheduled for August 2 and directed officials to spread awareness at the grassroots level through Krishi Sakhis, Drone Didis, Bank Sakhis, Pashu Sakhis, Bima Sakhis, and village sarpanches.
Agriculture Minister also instructed senior officials to ensure meticulous preparations at all levels. Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and ICAR Director General Dr. Mangi Lal Jat were among the senior officials present at the meeting.
