What Is PM-KISAN?
Launched in February 2019, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme aims to provide financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year to landholding farmers. This amount is paid in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each.
The scheme supports farmers in meeting essential agricultural expenses such as seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs. To date, more than 11 crore farmers across India have benefited from this initiative.
Payment Timeline and Delay
The 19th installment of the scheme was released on February 24, 2025. Based on the regular cycle, many farmers had expected the 20th payment in June. Later, media reports suggested a possible release on July 18, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Bihar.
However, due to scheduling and administrative delays, the release was postponed. The official confirmation now points to August 2, 2025, as the final release date during an event in Varanasi, where PM Modi is expected to personally announce the transfer.
