Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to release the 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme today, February 24, 2025. The event will be held in Bhagalpur, Bihar, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in attendance. Approximately 500,000 farmers are expected to participate in the rally.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi shared today, "Over the past 10 years, our efforts have led to rapid development in the agricultural sector of the country. Millions of our small farmers are receiving financial assistance, increasing their access to the market. Along with this, the cost of agriculture has decreased, and their income has also increased."

He further added, "Congratulations to our farmer brothers and sisters across the country on the completion of 6 years of PM-Kisan. It is a matter of immense satisfaction and pride for me that nearly three lakh fifty thousand crore rupees have reached their accounts so far. This effort of ours is giving our annadatas respect, prosperity, and new strength."

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched on February 24, 2019, aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers across India. Under this initiative, eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. The 19th installment will see approximately 9.7 crore farmers benefiting, with a total disbursement of Rs 22,000 crore. This direct benefit transfer ensures timely support to farmers, aiding them in procuring necessary inputs for their agricultural activities.

The previous, 18th installment was released on October 5, 2024, benefiting over 9.4 crore farmers with a total disbursement exceeding Rs 20,000 crore. The consistent support through PM-KISAN has been pivotal in enhancing the financial stability of farmers, enabling them to invest in quality seeds, fertilizers, and modern equipment, thereby improving crop yields and overall productivity.

To avail the benefits of the PM-KISAN scheme, farmers are required to complete the e-KYC (Know Your Customer) process. This verification ensures that the financial aid reaches the intended beneficiaries without any discrepancies. Farmers can complete their e-KYC through the official PM-KISAN portal or by visiting the nearest Common Service Center (CSC).

During the event, agricultural machinery and seed kits will be distributed under various schemes, including the Oilseed Mission, the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), the Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) initiative, and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). In addition, exhibitions will be held to showcase natural and organic farming practices, as well as products that have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags. These activities aim to promote innovation and sustainable agricultural methods.

The event will be broadcast live on DD Kisan, MyGov, YouTube, and Facebook, as well as at over 5 lakh common service centers across the country. Approximately 2.5 crore farmers are expected to participate both virtually and in person.
