Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on February 24, 2025, directly benefiting more than 9.8 crore farmers across India. Over Rs 22,000 crore was disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparent and efficient support to farmers, including 2.41 crore female beneficiaries, without any middlemen. Each eligible farmer will receive ₹2,000, helping them meet essential agricultural expenses.
The event, organized as part of the "Kisan Samman Samaroh," took place in Bhagalpur, Bihar, and was attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, and other prominent leaders, along with a crowd of approximately 5 lakh farmers.
Farmers across India who are eligible for the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme will receive Rs 2,000 directly in their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
To ensure the seamless transfer of funds, farmers must have their eKYC updated and their bank accounts linked with their Aadhaar numbers. Those who have already completed the necessary formalities will receive the payment automatically. In case of any issues or if the installment is not received, farmers are advised to visit the official PM-KISAN portal (pmkisan.gov.in) or contact their nearest agriculture office for assistance.
The PM-KISAN scheme, launched on February 24, 2019, aims to provide annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to eligible farmer families in three equal installments. With the release of the 19th installment, the total disbursement under the scheme has reached Rs 3.68 lakh crore, benefiting over 11 crore farmer families nationwide. In Bihar alone, more than Rs 25,497 crore has been disbursed through previous installments, with the 19th installment set to benefit approximately 76.37 lakh farmers, bringing the total benefit to Rs 27,088 crore for the state.
The event also featured the distribution of agricultural machinery and seed kits under various schemes such as the Oilseed Mission, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), Per Drop More Crop (PDMC), and Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme (PMFBY). Additionally, exhibitions showcasing natural and organic farming and Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products were organized to promote sustainable agricultural practices.
During the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated the 10,000th Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) in Bihar, a milestone under the scheme launched in 2020 to enhance farmers' bargaining power and improve market access.
The event also marked the inauguration of the Barauni Dairy's state-of-the-art dairy product plant with a processing capacity of 2 lakh liters of milk and the Regional Center of Excellence (CoE) at Motihari under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission to boost cattle breeding and dairy productivity.
Further infrastructure projects, including the doubling of the Warisaliganj–Nawadah–Tilaiya rail section and the Ismailpur–Rafiganj Road Over Bridge, were also inaugurated to improve connectivity and facilitate efficient movement of goods and passengers in the region.
